Recognizing that many housing and community development issues span municipal borders, South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) communities have formed the Chicago Southland Housing and Community Development Collaborative (“The Collaborative”) as a part of SSMMA. Since its inception in June 2009, the participating communities have developed a nationally recognized approach to addressing local and regional housing issues through cross-border collaboration.
The Collaborative adheres to the Green TIME Zone strategy, a core philosophy that drives much of SSMMA’s programs and partnerships around jobs, housing, workforce, and infrastructure development. To achieve this, development and/or redevelopment plans are oriented around new and existing Transit, Intermodal, and Manufacturing structures with the goal of Environmental sustainability.
The Collaborative meets at 9:00 am on the second Thursday of each month at the SSMMA offices. Please click here for meeting confirmation and agenda. All SSMMA communities and interested organizations are encouraged to attend. Please click here for a downloadable flyer.
