278-Mile Rail Project Planned/Surface Transportation Board seeks public comment


A private venture capital group, Great Lakes Basin Transportation (GLBT), is developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the U.S. Surface Transportation Board for a 278-mile railroad project running from La Porte, Indiana through Illinois to near Milton, Wisconsin and connect with existing Class I railroads.

According to GLBT, the $8 billion project will be entirely financed privately with no tax monies used.
