ComEd Green Region deadline extended



The deadline to submit an application to the ComEd Green Region Program has been extended to March 15, 2015.  Visit Openlands’ website to access additional information on the ComEd Green Region Program, review the Program Guidelines, browse the Frequently Asked Questions, and see the revised timeline for the program.

Who is eligible to apply?

Municipalities, townships, counties, park districts, conservation districts and forest preserve districts within ComEd’s service territory in the following counties: Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Ogle, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago and Woodford.  Applicants must be in good standing with ComEd related to provision of utilities.

How can I apply?

The 2015 grant cycle has moved to an online submission system. Click here to begin your application. If you are unable to submit your application through the online system, please contact the Green Region Administrator at greenregion@openlands.org to receive pre-approval to submit via email or mail.


What does the ComEd Green Region Program support? 

The grants, which can go up to $10,000, will support existing open space projects that focus on conservation, preservation and improvements to local parks and recreation resources. Grant recipients can use Green Region grants in combination with other funding sources to cover a portion of the expenses associated with developing and/or supporting their open space programs.
