Construction on a bridge over Canadian National railroad tracks on U.S. 30 in Lynwood is set to begin this year, officials said in a meeting Tuesday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation approved plans for the overpass in 2011. Freight train traffic is expected to triple in Lynwood by 2015.
“I think the majority will be done this year, so we won’t have to wait for a train whenever we have to go to the hospital or doctor’s appointments,” Village President Eugene Williams said. “It’ll be a great thing for us…” Please click here to read David P. Funk’s story in the Times.
