Despite reports, the Southland is a great place to raise a family

The Southland, it seems, never gets a fair shake in lists that rank communities.

One of the latest reports to shortchange the south suburbs is “2018’s Best Places to Raise a Family in Illinois,” released Jan. 4 by WalletHub.

“To determine the best places in Illinois for families to put down roots, WalletHub compared more than 222 cities in the state across 21 key indicators of family-friendliness,” the report said. “Our data set ranges from the share of families with young children to median family income to housing affordability…” Please click here for Ted Slowik’s column in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
