With hopes of landing steady and sustainable employment, a stream of job seekers attended an 11/30
hiring event that offered immediate manufacturing job openings. Those with no manufacturing experience or education, made their way back to resource tables–offered by OAI, Inc, Prairie State College, National Able Network, BCS, Safer Foundation and Governors State University–to sign-up for training.
Afterwards, organizers said that although they hoped to fill nearly 100 positions, some spots were still available. Jobs included CNC operator, machine operator, machinist, industrial machinery and maintenance mechanics, production associate, crane operator and general laborer. For more information about applying for any of these positions, please contact Kreshina Ingram at OAI Chicago Southland at kingram@oaiinc.org or 708-283-5020, ext. 209. Or visit http://www.oaiinc.org.
SSMMA, CSEDC, Chicago Heights, OAI, Inc, National Able Network and the Safer Foundation hosted the event at the Chicago Heights Recreation Center. It was sponsored by Polk Brothers Foundation and Bank of America. More photos are here.
