The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced FY 2017 funding opportunities for two of the
Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs, Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM). New in this application cycle is a set-aside of $70 million for community advance assistance and flood mitigation projects. The purpose of the grants is to provide funding for eligible mitigation activities to strengthen the nation’s ability to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damages. Grant applications must be submitted to FEMA through the Mitigation eGrants system on the FEMA Grants Portal accessible on the Internet by no later than 3:00 PM EDT on October 25th, 2017 for State review and processing. The application period is August 14 through November 14, 2017. In order to submit your grant application, you will need to email Ron Davis at ron.davis@illinois.gov to obtain your eGrants password. Pre-Award costs may be included in your application, but only costs incurred after the official opening of July 13th, 2017 are eligible.
