Funding opportunity: Urban & community forestry tree inventory grants

The Morton Arboretum has been asked to partner with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to offer urban and community forestry grants to municipalities, park districts, counties, and other units of local government.

Are you interested in receiving funding for a complete tree inventory or an urban/community forest management plan?  The Morton Arboretum has not yet finalized our agreement with IDNR but would like to hear from you.

  1. Grant awards will range from $3,000 to a maximum of up to $20,000

  2. The application process will open in June — please indicate your interest in the meantime

  3. The grant period shall be Summer 2020 – Summer 2022

  4. Funding categories for this grant cycle will be

  5. Complete tree inventory & management plan

  6. Management plan only (if you already have an inventory)

  7. Complete tree inventory only (if you cannot provide match for a management plan)

  8. There are no funds available for tree planting.

  9. This grant requires a 1:1 match.
