The Village of Matteson is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of Assistant Director of Finance. This position is under the general direction of the Director of Finance. The Assistant Director of Finance assists in planning, organizing and directing the various functions of the Finance Department, including but not limited to, playing a key role in the development of the Village’s annual budget, leading the annual financial statement audit process, and directly overseeing the functions of payroll, accounting, bank reconciliations and accounts payable. In addition, the Assistant Director of Finance provides indirect oversight of the cashiering and water billing processes.
The ideal candidate is required to have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or public administration. A minimum of five (5) years of experience, preferably in a community of comparable complexity. Strong knowledge of municipal finance practices, including GASB principles and accounting practices. Excellent organizational, managerial, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background check, drug screening and physical at the expense of the Village. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $119,000 with an attractive benefits package.
