Since taking on the role of columnist for the Daily Southtown and serving as a voice of the people in the Southland, I’ve enjoyed getting to know more about the dozens of communities in the region.

As I’ve become more acquainted with Southland towns, I wondered how many south suburbs share their names with other places in the United States. As I learned the history of Tinley Park, for example, I found out the community was initially called Bremen.
