For the rest of the golf world, last week was U.S. Open week.
At Olympia Fields Country Club, it was the first week on the clock — which has both nothing and everything to do the iconic, four-sided, 80-foot clock tower looming over what was completed in 1925 as “the world’s largest private golf club.”
The Southland gem will host the 2017 KPMG PGA Women’s Championship, the 2016 version of which wrapped June 12 in suburban Seattle with 18-year-old Brooke Henderson beating 19-year-old Lydia Ko in a playoff for her first major title…Please click here to read Phil Arvia’s story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
