Under-appreciated and even unheralded historical and natural treasures abound in Northwest Indiana and the southern Chicago region — assets that possess the ability to teach us valuable lessons from our past while also attracting tourism and the local revenue that follows.
That’s why a move is afoot in some political and historical preservation circles to transform the former Pullman Palace Railcar Co. and its surrounding historic company town into a national park.
