Even though it won’t get a real workout until heavy rains return, a multimillion-dollar stormwater detention pond in Tinley Park is ready for action, according to the village.
Called “Freedom Pond,” the basin, which already has some water in it, is meant to provide off-site stormwater detention for future development in and around the Oak Park Avenue business district, including a long-delayed apartment building south of the Oak Park Avenue Metra station and the anticipated development of the former Central Middle School property north of the station…Please click here for Mike Nolan’s story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
