SSMMA

GIS for Economic Development Workshop

Representatives from more than a dozen Southland towns and organizations participated in SSMMA’s GIS for Economic Development Workshop Sept. 11 at Prairie State College – Matteson Area Campus. The hands-on workshop featured information about some of SSMMA’s GIS economic development tools such as the Economic Development Atlas, Property Lister and the CoStar Resource (read more about them here) and how municipalities can use them to further their community redevelopment efforts. The workshop also provided information about SSMMA’s GIS services (read about them here). In addition, participants learned about data layers such as boundaries, TOD or TIF zones, education, transportation and other information that can be included in a map to help guide decision-making and potential investment. See more about SSMMA Economic Development and other Atlas Data Layers here. Click here to see the workshop presentation slides. For more information about the workshop, or SSMMA’s GIS services, please contact Jose Alarcon at 708-922-4673 or jose.alarcon@ssmma.org. More photos are here.

The event was supported by a grant from the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development.
