SSMMA leadership advocates for the Southland at Springfield Lobby Day


Thanks to SSMMA leadership, partners,

legislators and supporters for traveling to Springfield on Lobby Day on April 25 to advocate for the Southland on our Legislative Priorities.  More photos are here.

Representing nearly 750,000 residents, SSMMA is an intergovernmental agency that develops a common voice on municipal positions in the southern suburbs and advocates for sound public policy initiatives and solutions to local municipal, regional, and statewide problems. Our 2018 Legislative Program seeks to address the stability of local governments and our south suburban communities, as well as the legislative and economic needs of the southern suburbs. SSMMA’s legislative priorities for 2018 include: 1. Ensure the Stability of Local Government and Municipal Budgets 2. Maintain Local Control 3. Support Financially Sustainable Public Safety Pension Systems 4. Support Property Tax Reform: Tax Relief, Not Tax Freeze 5. Create New Tools for Economic Development and Investment 6. Support a Level I Trauma Center in the South Suburbs Read more.
